Carillon Assisted Living of Southport Achieves Top Rating
Carillon Assisted Living of Southport and Lincolnton have again earned top marks from state regulators, marking the fifth consecutive year of “deficiency free” surveys from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. As a licensed provider of assisted living homes and services for seniors, each of Carillon’s 17 communities is routinely scrutinized by regulators with the Division of Health Service Regulation to ensure the highest standards for quality are met.
As executive director of Carillon of Southport, Jan Park says her goal is not to simply meet the high standards of state officials, but to exceed the expectations of residents and families.
“We are exceedingly proud of the fact that state regulators have long considered Carillon of Southport the finest assisted living community for seniors in all of Brunswick County,” says Park, “but the true test of a senior community is meeting and exceeding the high standards and expectations of residents and families. We recently received our fourth consecutive year of A+ resident satisfaction scores, so we have a lot to celebrate right now.”
Carillon’s Southport community, located at 1125 E. Leonard Street in downtown Southport, opened in 2007. About two-thirds of the community’s residents are seniors who desire an active, independent lifestyle and care in the form of a helping hand with the tasks of day-to-day living. The community is also home to the highly regarded Alzheimer’s care program, The Garden Place.
Carillon of Southport’s exceptional annual surveys have earned the community a four-star rating by the state of North Carolina – the highest rating available to adult care homes in the state.
That’s significant, according to Karen E. Moriarty, Carillon’s president and CEO, who points out that, in order to achieve a four-star rating, a licensed assisted living community must earn a perfect score on its state survey for several consecutive years.
“A four-star community is one that doesn’t compromise on quality,” says Moriarty, the company’s founder. “For residents, a four-star community is one that delivers on its promises day after day, no matter what. And for families, a four-star community like Carillon of Southport offers the assurance that your loved ones’ needs will be met in all facets of their life – from the assistance they receive with daily tasks, to the cleanliness and safety of their home, to the administration of the medicines they take, to the nutritional value of their meals, and more.”
As executive director of Carillon of Lincolnton, Cindy Shepherd says her goal is not to simply meet the high standards of state officials, but to exceed the expectations of residents and families.
“We are extremely proud to be the top-rated assisted living community for seniors in Lincoln county,” says Shepherd. “To achieve five consecutive perfect scores from the state speaks volumes about our commitment to the seniors in our care. It means we are fulfilling our promise, and that’s a good feeling.”
