Carillon Celebrates All Workers on Labor Day 2016
September 4, 2016 we celebrate Labor Day, a time to recognize the social and economic achievements of American workers, and honor their work to help make the strength, prosperity and well-being of the America.
Labor Day has a far more significant meaning beyond being federal holiday that serves as a marker for the unofficial end of summer and a day for retail sales. Dubbed “a day of the people” by the American press, the first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City. In the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to eke out a basic living. In 1894, Grover Cleveland made Labor Day a federal holiday after a failed attempt to break up a railroad strike.
Labor Day gives Carillon Assisted living the opportunity to recognize the over 1,000 Carillon team members who daily serve our residents and their families and make Carillon the wonderful place it is for all its residents. Each and every Carillon team member is critical to daily meeting our mission to provide high quality care for our residents and enrich their physical, social and emotional well-being.
Carillon also recognizes all of our residents in Assisted Living and Garden Place for their lives laboring to secure the future the propensity of their children and their grandchildren to make this a better America and world.
“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
