Opening of Carillon Assisted Living of Mint Hill Drawing Close; Facility Will Mark 21st Residence in North Carolina
With Director Sara Rigsby now in place, Carillon Assisted Living is preparing to open its 21st location in North Carolina this summer in the picturesque community of Mint Hill.
Located about 12 miles east of Charlotte, Mint Hill is a thriving city with a population of nearly 26,000 and a median income 32 percent higher than the national average.
“We are excited to become part of the Mint Hill community and provide services to their seniors,” says Jennifer Moore, Carillon’s Regional Director of Operations. “Our new location will feature a memory care program to meet the needs of loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia.”
The colorfully-named city is part of Mecklenburg County in the southwestern part of the state. With a mixture of Southern culture and a variety of newcomers, Mint Hill is a trendy community that typifies the continuing growth of the metropolitan Charlotte area.
The National Football League’s Carolina Panthers and pro basketball’s Charlotte Hornets play nearby. And, thanks to Charlotte’s numerous cultural attractions, Mint Hill offers ready access to the amenities of big city life while retaining the charm of small-town living.
With its stately white columns in front and a cupola on top, the city’s town hall resembles the entrance to a university campus more than a municipal building. Town hall hosts a summer-long series of Family Fun Nights, which kicked off in early May with a bounce house for youngsters and a showing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Seniors and their families will be especially interested in the patriotic concert planned for Monday, July 3, and the end-of-summer concert on Tuesday, Sept. 19, featuring country tunes.
Moore says there has been considerable “buzz” in the area about the impending opening of Carillon, which recently hired Rigsby as the new facility’s director. A native of England, Sara later moved to California. Most recently, she worked with a well-respected assisted living company in the Northeast.
“She is already there and working,” Moore says. “We want people to know that we have boots on the ground and we’re nearly ready to open. We will be bringing forty-plus jobs to the area. There is a great need in this community for memory care, since there are a limited of beds for patients who need this service.”
Nested in the western part of Mint Hill, Carillon’s newest home is situated on a beautiful piece of property that overlooks a pretty pond. Last year’s groundbreaking ceremonies were attended by Mayor Ted Biggers, the Mint Hill Town Planning Board and other civic, government and business leaders.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity in a great community that has embraced us with open arms,” Moore says. “The Mint Hill residence fits with our mission, which is provide quality assisted living services to people across North Carolina.”
